The Second Annual Men Who Cook, a recent fundraiser held by Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County resulted in over 325 tickets being sold with net proceeds of over $8,000.  The funds from the evening benefit the Emergency Assistance program at Catholic Charities, which provides material and financial assistance to county residents facing a crisis.  The evening provided an opportunity for each ticket holder to sample the culinary creations of twenty-one local chefs.  Four women judges selected Ren Carlisle’s “Spicy Three Cheese Tortellini with Red Peppers” as the Best Overall dish.  Larry Laurello’s “Bestecca Alla Pizzaiolia” won the People’s Choice Award.  Other chefs included:  Mark Allen, Mike Andersen, Michael Andersen, Barry Bronson, Jamie Cordova, Rep. George Distel, Doug Hladek, Andrew Huggins, David Kiphart, Sgt. Michael Mallott, Commissioner Joe Moroski, Tony Orlando, Luke Sawicki, Dr. William Seeds, Tony Silva, Rev. Raymond Thomas, Dave White, Don Meola, and Dr. Edward Wiese.  Judges included:  Commissioner Deborah Newcomb, Mary Pepperney, Dean Susan Stocker, and Debbi Waring.  Jayne Colin-Currie served as the Master of Ceremony.
