The housing program at Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County assists individuals and families with any housing issues that they may have.  Changes in income as well as a family crisis can lead to an unmanageable situation where mortgage/rent payments and normal living expenses exceed family income.  As a result, the family is faced with the overwhelming possibility of a legal action resulting in foreclosure/eviction.  This is when a housing caseworker may assist those in difficulty.  A professional may provide assistance through budget planning, act as an intermediary between the two parties involved, refer the family to agencies for financial assistance or direct the family in the direction in which they need to move.  Housing counseling is also available for those who may wish to purchase their own home and may not know how to begin.  Catholic Charities may be able to access  downpayment assistance based upon income eligibility.
